There really is no big secret to being a successful poker player. If you play premium hands, you have a very good chance of being a successful poker player. There are other things you need to do to improve your game and become more that just successful, but the first step is play premium hands (these are hands where you have a high probability of winning).
The Hutchison Point System was developed and copyrighted by Dr. Edward Hutchison for just this purpose - to give players a simple way of determining what hands to play. Simply put, each card is assigned a value and by doing simple addition a player can get a recommendation of whether to play the hand or muck it.
